Releases and applicability

Product availability baseline: 18 September 2026. This page distinguishes shipped behavior from planned or bounded capabilities.

These are independent version lines. Installing CLI 0.17.6 does not mean a device runs Daemon 0.17.5. A Bridge update need not publish new native packages, and a documentation update is not a software release.

Use Download Forge for currently selected verified artifacts. Run forge --version to check the technician CLI. Device details report their own host_version; offline devices receive eligible updates when they reconnect.

  • Browser login, independent workspace profiles and authorized Windows/Linux device access over native outbound HTTPS relay.
  • Persistent elevated Daemon access and attended temporary Rescue with explicit, health-confirmed promotion.
  • One-device Windows/Linux enrollment links for recipients without a Forge account.
  • Explicit one-shot diagnostics: Windows schema 1.0 and Linux running-OS schema 2.0.
  • Contextual access periods and metadata history, with separate temporary Rescue history and provenance.
  • Companies, contacts and descriptive device links.
  • Workspace-shared cases, attributed notes with correction history, and customer drafts requiring explicit website review before reviewed plain-text copy/download.
  • A read-only Fleet Overview map and accessible list using actual authorized relationships and live access observations.
  • Bounded service fault diagnostics to support investigation, without making raw stacks or customer content part of public error guidance.
  • Hosted subscription purchases, published agreement records and Stripe-hosted billing management for eligible workspaces. Shop and Business selections now survive sign-up/sign-in, and new customers can create their workspace inside the purchase journey without first configuring a device.
  • Direct-tools Whisper with metered usage under normal workspace authorization; the six original workspaces retain their explicit no-deduction policy.

The public service uses workspace-humans-v2. Human Admins and Technicians have ordinary workspace-wide device/history and customer/case rights. Settings, accounts, roles and invitations remain Admin-only. Machines retain explicit test scope; case collaborators are not access grants.

Platform boundary

Windows x64 and Linux x64 technician/device products are released. The Linux technician baseline covers Ubuntu 24.04, Ubuntu 26.04 and Debian 13 on x64/glibc. Linux ARM64, Alpine/musl and formal WSL support are not claimed. There is no macOS release.

Windows and Linux use different native installation and signature-verification paths. Follow the matching Windows or Linux guide; do not treat “non-Windows” as a Linux support promise.

Not implied by this release

Whisper uses direct Forge tools and durable chat under normal workspace authorization. The embedded OpenCode implementation and its disposable history are removed. General admission does not imply a guaranteed complete repair, recovery or concurrent-workload service. Ordinary Forge Work/Cases, downloads and local-agent access remain available; no new public CLI/device release is implied.

Forge does not currently provide:

  • a guaranteed concurrent-repair service or broad automatic workflow guarantee;
  • automatic customer email sending or customer-facing delivery receipts;
  • a full CRM/PSA, custom top-ups, native paid-plan changes or active capacity enforcement;
  • a general guarantee of Windows or hardware recovery;
  • a publicly distributed modified repair ISO or general Secure Boot support.

The repair Live USB capability is bounded local SystemRescue assembly with verified Linux Rescue, separate from ordinary installed-OS access. It does not expand diagnostics to offline operating systems or certify every repair scenario.

Keeping clients current

Use forge update for the technician tool. Daemon updates are managed separately: verified packages are staged, health checked and rolled back if activation is unhealthy. Do not infer update failure from an offline device's old reported version.

For installation or compatibility errors, follow troubleshooting rather than mixing companion binaries or disabling trust checks.
